Since introducing this degree, Nevada State College has won several awards for the quality of the program. Originally known as the Elko Community College, Great Basin College was founded in 1967. Over the course of its history, Great Basin College quickly grew from being a simple community college to offering a full array of bachelor’s degrees. At this time, Great Basin College has expanded its online degree offerings to include fully online bachelor’s degrees in English, Social Science, Nursing, Land Surveying, Digital Information Technology, and many more. Students are also able to select from almost a dozen different associate’s degrees that are also entirely online. Great Basin College has also instituted a sizable certification program for students who are looking to take an abbreviated offering of courses in a variety of different topics. Currently, the College of Southern Nevada has grown to offer 25 different online degree programs to students. A total of 1,000 courses are also made available to students entirely online. By focusing on online education, the College of Southern Nevada has been able to dramatically increase the number of students that attend classes at the school. Founded in 1881, the University of Nevada-Reno is one of the oldest institutions of education in the entire state. The University of Nevada-Reno offers more than 4,500 individual courses to students entirely online.
